About Sacred Hearts Academy
- Sacred Hearts Academy is Hawaii’s largest all-girls’ school and was founded in 1909 by the Sisters of the Sacred Hearts. The School’s mission is to develop each student into a well-rounded individual and a contributing member of society by offering a quality curriculum within a Christian environment. The student body consists of approximately 900 students in grades Pre-Kindergarten-12; students come from all areas of the island of Oahu and several foreign countries. Academy students mirror the ethnic, religious, economic and social diversity of the islands. Many have Asian and Pacific Island backgrounds, and a significant number of families belong to the military. The Academy’s student body is diverse in every way except gender.
- The School encourages students to pursue multiple leadership opportunities in community service projects, performing arts, athletics, and student government. Students take various higher level courses such as Advanced Placement classes and participate in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) programs to thoroughly prepare them for college and beyond.
- The Academy’s vision and culture is about girls leading and excelling. Each student is expected to grow and become the most confident and successful version of herself. The Academy’s students commit to 60,000 hours of community service to non-profit organizations each year. There are many opportunities for girls to become leaders at the Academy, but a more transformative experience would be helpful. The students will be empowered greatly in an environment with strong women decision makers.
- Sacred Hearts Academy is well equipped to partner with community and business mentors to support students. The School has educated thousands of Hawaii’s women for generations and has a legacy of families continuing to send their daughters to the Academy. The School is known for empowering students to excel by developing a strong work ethic, study skills, and time management.
